Rev. Dr. David Rex Orgen
Background: Rev. Dr. David Rex Orgen is a dedicated clergyman with a passion for community building and spiritual growth. Born and raised in Ghana, West Africa, came to the United States to reconnect to his family, he developed a deep-rooted connection to his community from an early age after arrival to the state. After completing College and his studies, Also trained as behavior specialist and Autistic specialist he felt a calling to serve people, especially people with disabilities here in Columbus and beyond through his professional and pastoral ministry.
Ministry Journey: In 1999, Rev. Dr. Orgen answered his calling by founding Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Columbus, Ohio. With a vision for fostering a welcoming and inclusive congregation, he embarked on the journey of church planting with determination and faith. Under his leadership, Ebenezer UMC quickly became a hub for spiritual growth and community engagement.
Over the years, Rev. Dr. Orgen has been actively involved in discipleship and pastoral care within various United Methodist congregations in Columbus. From Centenary United Methodist Church to Church of Messiah United Methodist Church, he has left a positive impact on each community he has served and worshipped.
Current Role: Since 2019, Rev. Dr. Orgen has been serving as the head pastor of Hilltop United Methodist Church, where he continues to inspire and lead his congregation with compassion and wisdom. In this role, he oversees the spiritual direction of the church, provides pastoral care to members, and leads initiatives to promote social justice and community outreach.
Leadership Style: Rev. Dr. Orgen is known for his compassionate leadership style, characterized by empathy, humility, and a deep commitment to serving others. He believes in empowering individuals to discover and nurture their spiritual gifts, fostering a sense of belonging and purpose within the church community.
Vision and Mission: Rev. Dr. Orgen’s vision for ministry centers around creating a diverse and inclusive community where all are welcome to experience God’s love and grace. His mission is to cultivate disciples who are equipped to make a positive difference in the world, living out their faith through acts of compassion, justice, and service.
Personal Life: Outside of his pastoral duties, Rev. Dr. Orgen enjoys spending time with his family, exploring nature, and engaging in activities that nourish his soul. He is known for his warm personality, sense of humor, and unwavering dedication to his faith and calling.
